A Message from Executive Director Sharon Jensen

  • By · December 21st, 2011

As a longstanding friend of Inclusion in the Arts, we know you share our commitment to full inclusion in theatre, film and television. For 25 years, by creating opportunities, forging partnerships, and designing specific programs to assist both decision makers and artists in the implementation of diverse, inclusive policies and practices, we have substantively expanded the cultural landscape of our industry.

In 2011, we experienced unprecedented growth and visibility.  Two examples: In May, we launched the Accessibility/Audience Expansion Initiative to make four new Broadway productions substantially more accessible to disability communities locally and across the globe.  In June, we received a 2011 Tony Honor for Excellence in the Theatre.

Inclusion in the Arts has never been in a better position to support your work and advance our shared goals.  As we look ahead with great excitement to new projects and partnerships, the economic crisis has hit the endowments of our traditional funders with full force.  We operate resourcefully and close to the bone.  Any decrease in our funding threatens the organization, its programs and its mission.

I hope you will consider making Inclusion in the Arts part of your year-end giving.  No amount is too small.  Your contribution will directly support programs that advance diversity and inclusion in our industry to reflect the world spectrum of our humanity.

Thank you for your consideration and warmest wishes for the holiday season!

Best regards,

Sharon Jensen, Executive Director
