Ahmed, Yasmine

A member of the Nissan Arab American Women’s Collective, which conceived The Panel (listed among the plays of Leila Buck), Yasmine Ahmed holds a BA in Fine Arts from Helwan University (2001) and a dual post-graduate degree in Forced Migration and Refugee Studies Program (2005) and in Sociology-Anthropology (2007) from the American University in Cairo. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Grant Award for Egyptian Students, academic year 2005-2006. During this year, Ahmed conducted ethnographic fieldwork with Egyptian migrant workers in New York City towards her MA thesis titled “Egypt-New York: Journeys of Migration and Desire,” which will be published shortly in Cairo Papers in Social Science, The American University in Cairo Press. Yasmine is a researcher at the Social Research Center and the Centre for Migration and Refugee Studies of the American University in Cairo.
