Saleem

One of the many visible Arab American performing artists in the States, Saleem is an openly gay Palestinian  performer / playwright.  He was the recipient of the 1996 GLAAD award  ( Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation  ) for his internationally acclaimed production of  Salam Shalom… A Tale Of Passion, which deals with a  love story between an Arab and a Jewish man. Based on Saleem’s own biography, the work is being developed into a screenplay.

As a dancer, Saleem has developed his own dancing style which incorporates

Middle Eastern dance, gypsy movements, flamenco and jazz, all blended to produce what he calls “free style belly dancing”.

Also equipped with a Master’s in business administration from Colorado State University , Saleem manages and runs his own events promotion company “Club La Zeez ” which promotes world music and Mediterranean beats. Saleem is a  strong believer in promoting cultural understanding between people, particularly Palestinians and Israelis
