Ünel, Sinan

Sinan Ünel was born in San Francisco to an American mother and Turkish father. He grew up in Turkey and returned to the US to attend college. His plays have been produced in New York, Boston, New Haven, Los Angeles, London, Germany, and Austria. A Playwriting Fellow at the Huntington Theater in Boston, he is the winner of the John Gassner Memorial Award, the Daryl Roth Creative Spirit Award, and the Lark Theater’s New Play Award. His screenplay, Race Point, is the winner of the New Century Screenplay award. His plays include The Cry of the Reed, Pera Palas, Tolstoy’s Den, Off The Cliff, Thalassa My Heart, and The Three of Cups. Sinan is developing his new play, New Life, at the Lark Theater in New York.
