  • Elizabeth Hartman wore a pair of opaque contact lenses that not only made her appear blind, but genuinely deprived her of her sight.
  • Contains the first black man-white woman lip to lip kiss on screen.

  • Patty Duke was offered the lead part of Selina D’Arcy. Patty Duke managers, John and Ethel Ross, did not want her to take the part because they felt that playing a blind person so close to the time she portrayed Helen Keller would stereotype her for future roles.

  • film marked the return of actress Susan Peters to the screen after a three-year absence due to an accident in 1945
  • In the early 1940’s, Peters was billed as Suzanne Carnahan, her real name
  • Peters’ last previous picture was the 1945 film Keep Your Powder Dry

    I was so, so jealous that you got to ivierntew Robert Osborne (I consider him to be the human encyclopedia of film). This would be an ivierntew of a lifetime. Kudos to you for lining this up, it was a lot of fun to watch and I thought your questions were interesting even if I was jealous during the whole segment.
